Christ Renews His Parish is a
process designed to bring members of a parish together in Christ. All
of our commitments, including our commitment to Christ, need continued
renewal if we are to be faithful. Christ Renews His Parish is an
effective spiritual renewal process which calls together the members of
the parish – laity, priests, and religious– in order to experience
personal conversion and Christian community in the environment of our
own parish. It is not a
silent retreat, is not a parish organization, is not a public
confession, is not an emotional cult, is not a pre-selected group, and
is not a parish clique. Christ Renews His Parish is a series of talks,
exercises, and activities designed to bring us closer to Jesus. This
comes about through small group participation and a fair amount of
witnessing of faith and sharing.
The main purpose of this whole
program is to bring people closer to Jesus … to develop a personal
relationship with Jesus. As this unfolds a person is likely to
experience a special conversion in their faith walk…a renewal of faith
and love for Jesus. As we grow closer to Jesus we will naturally want
to share Him and do good works for Him. Many of these works come about
in the form of parish activities. A willingness to pitch in and help in
the parish.
Let us be
concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do
well. Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are
doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you
see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.
Hebrews 10:25
Thus, the parish itself experiences a spiritual rejuvenation … a renewal
of love and caring for others… the way Jesus wanted it to be hundreds of
years ago. The renewal of the parish comes about through the hands of
the renewed parishioners.
